    White House exploring authority for student loan forgiveness, chief of staff says

    President Joe Biden is exploring presidential authority to forgive student loans — but has yet to decide how best to address the financial burden on student borrowers. White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain said Thursday the president has asked his Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona to prepare a memo on the president’s legal authority to cancel student debt.  Biden has previously suggested he does not have the authority to cancel $50,000 in student loan debt, saying he would “not make that happen” at a town hall in February, as some members of his party and progressives have called for.

    New hospital board members, staff promotions, expansion at Next-Mark

    Three prominent local leaders have joined the board of trustees at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. Robert Browning, MD, Erin McLeod and Veronica Thames will serve on the hospital board for three-year terms. Browning is a general surgeon who specializes in robotic surgery and has performed more than 500 cases. McLeod is the president and CEO of Senior Friendship Centers and Veronica Thames is the senior vice president for administration and chief operating officer at Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The new board members will join other community leaders and physicians on the board advising the hospital leadership team on quality

    © Provided by The Indian Express To raise money for paying the salaries of its employees and meet its operational costs, the cash-strapped Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is set to raise Rs 2,000 crore by keeping its various depots as a collateral. Sources said the MSRTC has suffered losses of around Rs 3,500 in the last six months due to the lockdown and the salaries of the staff have not been paid for three months. From catering to 60 lakh to 65 lakh passengers daily with per day income of Rs 22 crore, the footfall has come down
