WUKY Seeking Applicants for Small Business Marketing Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 4, 2021) — WUKY is excited to announce its newest initiative to support local, small businesses and organizations within Central Kentucky through the WUKY Small Business Marketing Award.

This new program is geared to support locally-owned for-profit and nonprofits with on-air and online marketing via 91.3FM WUKY and its digital channels, with an emphasis on organizations that target underserved communities in the region.

Grant amounts range from $5,000 to $10,000 for on-air underwriting (program sponsorships) and digital advertising on WUKY. Awards are determined by a committee, which consists of individuals from various backgrounds.

The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

Eligible parties must meet the U.S. Small Business Administration’s definition of a small business with a government-issued business license to operate within the WUKY service area or be a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (20 or fewer staff members) in this region. Organizations that plan to use an advertising agency during the award’s year are ineligible.

Funding priorities are given to organization that address the needs of low-income and marginalized populations, provide services to underserved populations, have demonstrated commitment to community service, and are not already actively engaged in a similar marketing program. Preference is also given to organizations in good standing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and/or with no unresolved complaints with the BBB or the Kentucky Department of Consumer Protection.

At the end of the application process, recipients will receive a letter stating the amount of the in-kind award, the award date, and documentation as needed, along with next steps in the fulfillment process.

“Due to the worldwide pandemic, WUKY is determined to help give back to the community and local, small businesses and organizations that have been financially and fiscally affected by COVID-19 by providing them with a generous marketing package based upon their impact to our region,” said Tom Godell, WUKY general manager.
