Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan made health insurance free for millions

After the passage of President Joe Biden’s first Covid-19 relief plan, nearly 7 million uninsured Americans now qualify for free health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, according to new federal projections shared exclusively with Vox. Hiltzik: USPS 10-year plan wrongly treats agency as business

The 10-year master plan for the U.S. Postal Service unveiled Tuesday by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy looks as though it will achieve his objective of placing the service on a sound business footing for a decade. The plan would do everything that comes naturally to a hard-nosed business executive. That’s the bad news. The plan would stretch out mail delivery deadlines, raise postal rates (perhaps steeply), cut back on post office hours and close branches. The worse news is inherent in these changes, taken all together. It’s that they reflect the notion that the USPS should be “run like a

The business groups are focusing opposition to House Bills 4346 and 4354 related to insulin and oral chemotherapy coverage they say will shift costs to small businesses and “mandate coverages and add unnecessary new regulations to insurers, raising health insurance premiums.” Late Wednesday afternoon, the Michigan House passed health care reform bills, including HB 4346 and 4354. The bills now move to the Senate. The coalition includes the

New PPP guidance implements changes from American Rescue Plan Act

New Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) guidance from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) incorporates changes to the program made by the American Rescue Plan Act, P.L. 117-2, and establishes that entities that receive a Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) cannot subsequently receive a PPP loan. The American Rescue Plan Act revised the section of the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act (Economic Aid Act), P.L. 116-260, that created the SVOG. This change made it possible for entities that receive a first- or second-draw PPP loan after Dec. 27, 2020, to also receive an SVOG, with the
