    Rina Spence, pioneering woman in health care’s executive ranks, dies at 72

    Ms. Spence, who had started a school for troubled youths before switching to health care administration, died June 10 of cancer. She was 72 and lived in Cambridge.     Leo Kuehl, cost accounting supervisor, longtime Glenside Fire Company volunteer, dies at 104.

    Leo B. Kuehl, 104, formerly of Glenside and Ambler, a gentle family man who lived a life of service to others, died Saturday, April 24, at Rydal Park retirement community after complications from a fall. “Everything he did was for other people,” said his granddaughter Megan Sweeney. “Very rarely did he ever take time to do anything for himself.” “He would talk about how his favorite word was integrity, and that was how he lived his life,” Sweeney said. “He just grew up with a sense of community and giving back.     IU finance professor dies Saturday of unexpected medical emergency

    IU Professor Craig Holden died from an unexpected medical emergency Saturday, according to an email sent Sunday to IU faculty and staff by Idalene Kesner, dean of the Kelley School of Business. Holden joined the Kelley School of Business in 1990 as a professor of finance and served as the chair of the Department of Finance at Kelley since 2018, according to the email. Holden was teaching two undergraduate courses, according to George Vlahakis, Associate Director of Communications at the Kelley School of Business. Students in Holden’s courses were notified of his passing in a message on Canvas, which also

    Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson dies at 62 after battle with cancer

    Arne Sorenson, the president and CEO of Marriott, the world’s largest hotel chain, died Monday, the hotel giant announced Tuesday morning. He was 62. The company said in 2019 that Sorenson had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and this month it announced he would be taking a step back from his regular schedule to “facilitate more demanding treatment.” Sorenson was just the third CEO in Marriott’s history, taking the helm in 2012 — and the first not to have Marriott as a last name.
