The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce wrote a letter thanking Kentucky Congressman James Comer for introducing the “Save Local Business Act” in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The bill would amend the National Labor Relations Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act to make clear that an employer may be considered a joint employer in relation to an employee only if such employer directly, actually, and immediately exercises significant control over the essential terms and conditions of employment.
The Save Local Business Act ensures small business owners maintain control over their operational decisions.
In the letter, Kentucky Chamber Director of Political Affairs Travis Burton said, “As businesses across Kentucky and the nation attempt to recover from the harsh economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, this legislation could not be timelier.”
Burton said that the legal clarity provided in the “Save Local Business Act” will help the state’s businesses continue their recovery, grow, and create jobs.
The Kentucky Chamber has contacted the state’s members of the U.S. House to support the legislation.
