Abilene Federal Credit Union, which serves more than 3,000 members, recently announced its new executive board members.
Kevin Onheiser, who has served on the credit union’s board for the past seven years, was named as the board’s new president. Onheiser is a member of the Abilene Police Department.
Other leadership positions named include Mindy Patterson as vice president and Joey Kincaid as secretary. Patterson is Abilene’s deputy city manager, and Kincaid is the Abilene Fire Department’s C Shift Battalion chief.
Blizzard & Zimmerman adds attorney
The Blizzard & Zimmerman Law Firm recently announced that Morgan Walker has joined the firm as its fifth and newest attorney. Her practice will focus on criminal law, criminal defense, appeals, and post-conviction relief.
Walker received a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice and legal studies from the University of Illinois at Springfield, and received a juris doctor degree from the Southern Illinois University School of Law.
United Family donates 4,200 pounds of apples
As part of its Take a Bite Out of Hunger program, United Supermarkets and Market Street donated 4,200 pounds of apples to the Food Bank of West Central Texas on April 29.
The donation was part of 39,000 pounds of apples donated to food banks around Texas and New Mexico.
The program, which is sponsored by FirstFruits Marketing of Washington, has donated more than 500,000 pounds of apples in its 11-year existence.
Condley and Company accountant receives top score on CPA exam
Kristina Warrix, an accountant with the Condley and Company L.L.P. certified public accounting firm, was recently presented with the Elijah Watts Sells Award by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
The award recognizes CPA candidates who a achieve a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the CPA exam and pass all four sections on their first attempt. Only 89 of 75,000 test takers in 2020 received the honor.
Warrix, who joined the firm in 2018, received a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting and finance in 2018 and a master of business administration degree in 2020, both from Hardin-Simmons University.
Nominees sought for Torch Awards for Ethics
The Better Business Bureau of Abilene is seeking nominations for its annual Torch Awards for Ethics, which recognize businesses that serve as positive examples and conduct business ethically.
Nominees will be categorized based on number of employees, with awards presented during the BBB’s annual auction on June 18.
Black Plumbing, which was the local winner last year, went on to become a recipient of the 2020 International Torch Awards for Ethics.
