Virginia minimum wage goes up Saturday, along with vehicle insurance minimums | State

Virginia workers, employers, drivers and voters will see three changes in state law effective Saturday. For employers and employees, the next step in a series of state minimum wage increases begins Jan. 1 with a $1.50 hike in the base wage from $9.50 to $11. The latest wage hike will lead to another $1 increase in January 2023 to $12, $1.50 in January 2024 to $13.50, and a $1.50 rise to $15 in January 2026. If Congress approves a minimum wage rate higher than the state level at the time, the Virginia minimum wage rises to that level. With that

Home Insurance Rates Are Rising Due to Climate Change: Here’s How to Lower Your Costs | Personal-finance

New windows that better protect your home might be a good long-term investment, especially in areas where hurricanes are common and insurance discounts frequent. “New windows may cost you $10,000, but could save you $2,000 annually” in premiums, Lanham says. Jenny Shermo, the chief growth officer for Security Health Plan in Marshfield said they have completely covered all COVID-19 testing and in-patient treatment and monitoring since the pandemic began, noting that other insurance providers stopped that coverage after a year. She explained they had been monitoring the federal recommendations of what insurance agencies should cover and the trends in the usage of the benefits to determine if changes

Aave Takes Real World Assets As Collateral

For all the talk of DeFi changing the financial world forever, the reality is that decentralized finance is largely a closed system. For the most part, cryptocurrency owners put up their crypto as collateral for loans in dollar-pegged stablecoins, then use them to invest in DeFi projects. The closed loop opened a little Tuesday (Dec. 28) when the Aave lending protocol announced a deal with decentralized financing protocol Centrifuge that will allow small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to access the liquidity available in cryptocurrency markets, by tokenizing real-world assets like freight invoices, bridge loans, trade receivables and the like, and
